A previous article showed you how to build a fact find template from scratch using drag-and-drop components. This article builds on that knowledge. It shows you how to create functional and professional-looking templates by customizing the design of a Text Area component (e.g. label placement) and converting a component into a required field.

Contents

Prerequisites

Know how to build a basic fact find template.

Text Area component

Click the Display tab to see and configure these settings.

  • Label - Enter the title of the field.

  • Label Position - Set the label's position. Click the field and select an option (e.g. top, bottom, etc.).

  • Placeholder - The text that appears when the field is empty.

  • Description - The text that appears below the field.

  • Prefix - Any text or character(s) that you place at the beginning of a field (e.g. a dollar sign).

  • Suffix - Any text or character(s) that you place at the end of a field (e.g. a per cent sign) to change or expand a function.

  • Tooltip - A brief message that displays when the cursor hovers an icon.

  • Display Mask - Show the reader the required input format (e.g. a telephone mask 1300-888-888).

Required value

Use this feature to force readers to enter a value. All required fields must have a value before the reader can submit the form.

Open a component and click the Validation tab. Check the Required box. The template adds a red asterisk to indicate a required field.
