Alas, BrokerEngine doesn't have a tool to auto-merge duplicate contacts.
However, you can manually swap duplicates. Select the contact you wish to keep and edit the name. Then, update the Primary contact on all deals linked to the duplicate contact before deleting the duplicate. Pretty simple, right?

Renaming a contact
The first step is to locate the duplicate records and rename one of them.
Go to the left-hand menu and click the Contacts icon.
Use the search tool to locate the duplicate records.
Select the record that you will eventually delete and click Edit.
On the next window, click the DETAILS tab.
Go to the name field and add a unique identifier (like an asterisk or the word delete).
Click Save.

Assigning the other contact to a deal
Next, open a deal associated with the duplicate contact. Go to the left-hand menu and click Fact Find > Applicants > Personal Details. The applicant's edited name appears near the top of the page. In the screenshot below, the field displays the revised name with an asterisk.
Now, add the other duplicate contact to the deal.
Go to the top of the page and click the Link Existing Applicant button. New fields display.
Click the Choose an applicant field and select the other duplicate contact.
Click the Choose a role field and select Co-applicant.
Click the Link to This Loan button.
BrokerEngine adds the name to the application as a co-applicant. Let's change that role. Click the application icon and click Yes in the popup.
The roles are reversed. The proper contact now has the Primary role. Go to the old contact name (with the co-applicant role) and click the red delete button.
After you click delete in the confirmation popup, BrokerEngine removes the previous (i.e. wrong) contact record from the deal. Repeat the steps for other deals associated with the old contact.
Deleting the contact
Once you're sure the old contact is no longer connected with any deals, open the Contacts page and delete the unwanted duplicate record.
