Savvy marketers build lists to grow their businesses. Super savvy marketers use automations to build lists with minimal human input. That's what this article shows you. Create a Zapier zap to automatically populate your personal contacts list (e.g. name and email address) whenever you add a lead (or deal) to BrokerEngine.

This article shows you how to populate a Google Contacts page with BrokerEngine leads. You could easily switch out Google for Office 365 and select deal info instead of lead info.

Prerequisites

Create a Zapier account and know how to create zaps. Integrate Zapier with your BrokerEngine account.

Video walkthrough

Learn how to set a zap and automatically send new contact info from BrokerEngine to your external contacts list.

Opening the Zapier editor

Log in to your Zapier account and click Create > Zaps. The editor displays.

Click the Trigger button. A popup displays.

Type BrokerEngine into the search field and then select BrokerEngine.

Back on the editor, go to the side panel and click the Event field. Scroll down and select New Lead Created. Click the Continue button two times.

Scroll down and click the Test trigger button (if prompted). Zapier loads sample records and pre-selects one. Click Continue with selected record.

Adding an action

Next, select an action. In this example, we want to load contact data from new leads into our Google Contacts page. Type Google Contacts into the search field and then select Google Contacts.

Back on the editor, go to the side panel and click the Event field. Scroll down and select Create Contact. Click the Continue button. Click the Sign in button. A popup displays and prompts you to grant permission to access your Google account.

After the Google integration completes, select the fields you want Zapier to copy to your Google Contacts page. In this example, we copy two fields: name and email address.

Click the First name field and select an option on the drop-down menu. You could select the First Name field, but we suggest the Application Name field. This can help eliminate confusion down the road if the same contact asks you to put together another deal.

Optionally, click the field and enter CRM in front of the field name. When scanning the contacts list, this prefix tells you the contact comes from BrokerEngine.

Go to the Email field and repeat the steps. Scroll down and select Primary Applicant Email.

Running a test

Scroll down to the bottom of the Zapier form and click Continue. The page shows the test record information (e.g. name and email address). Click the Test step button. If the test is successful, my Google Contacts page should show a record for Harry Carry.

Open the Google Contacts page. The test record from BrokerEngine transferred by Zapier is on the list. Return to the Zapier editor page and click the Publish button to make the zap live. The work on Zapier is now complete.

Running a live test

Here's an optional test. Create a new lead on BrokerEngine and confirm the contact information transfers correctly to the Google Contacts list. In this example, the transfer worked as expected.
