Brokers with established practices compile a significant amount of data on the BrokerEngine platform. That information helps brokers and teams find the best mortgage solution for their client's unique circumstances.
Here's another way to leverage that data. Brokers can generate segmented lists based on one or more tags. A segmented list is a valuable commodity because it allows brokers to send targeted campaigns (e.g. via the Outbox feature or a third-party email marketing service) to a group of people with shared characteristics.
Two decades ago, someone said data is the new oil. Turns out he was right. This article shows you how to drill down into your database and extract actionable information.

Video walkthrough
Learn how to create a segment.
Opening the loan splits page
First, open the Loan Splits page.
Go to the side menu and click the More link.
In the popup, click Loan Splits. A new page displays.
Opening the filter panel
The new page shows all the settled deals in the system. Depending on the number of records, the page might take a couple of minutes to load. Once the page loads, go to the left side of the screen and click the arrow icon. This unhides the Manage Filters panel. Click the Create button. A new window displays.
Creating a filter
The new window displays a considerable number of filter options. Choose the options that will help you create a well-defined segment. Give the filter a unique name and optionally check the box to share the filter with your team. Click OK and then Save. BrokerEngine displays the filtered list.
Adding tags
Next, apply a tag to each record in the filtered list. The tag will help you find the same records in the Contacts list, which has information you'll need to send a campaign.
Check the box at the top of the table (next to Last Name) to select all records. Click the Add Tags button. A new window displays.
Select Add Tag and then create a new tag. Click Add Tag and then Apply Tag(s) and then Yes in the confirmation popup.
Opening the Contacts page
Next, go to the side menu and click Contacts. A new page displays. Go to the top right corner and click the filter icon. In the popup, check the Tags box.
In the popup, select the tag you created in the previous step. Click Apply.
BrokerEngine displays all the contact records with the tag. Optionally, you can edit the number of table columns. Click the gear icon in the top right corner and select Edit Columns.
In the popup, use the checkboxes to hide or unhide columns and then click Apply. These settings affect which columns BrokerEngine includes in the Excel spreadsheet when you download the contact list.
Downloading the file
Go to the top of the page and click the Export View button. BrokerEngine downloads an Excel spreadsheet with the data you see on the screen. If you subscribe to an email marketing service (e.g. Mailchimp, Klaviyo, etc.), you could upload these contacts to an audience and send a campaign with a tailored message for this segment.
